Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom Teeth Extraction for Your Teen

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, usually arrive in the teen or young adult years. You probably know that wisdom teeth almost always need to be extracted. But why? What’s the harm in leaving them alone?

Wisdom teeth appear once all the other permanent teeth are long in place. Therefore, your mouth is already full when wisdom teeth make their entrance. If the wisdom teeth are allowed to erupt, they can crowd your mouth and push other teeth out of position.

Additionally, wisdom teeth are in the very back of your mouth. This is an area that is difficult to access with daily brushing and flossing. As a result, these back teeth are quite susceptible to decay. Leaving wisdom teeth in place is just asking for trouble in the form of cavities and possible infection.

If you are having wisdom tooth pain or symptoms, please call Glen Burnie Family Dental at (410) 760-6699.

We don’t remove wisdom teeth in our office but we can refer you to a great local oral surgeon.
